High School Sports Friday Recap

It’s a busy time of year for high school sports. At the State High School Alpine Ski Championships in Golden Peak this week, Summit emerged with team championships for both the boys and the girls.

Individually, Summit’s Seth Montgomery repeated as the boys giant slalom (Wednesday) and slalom (Thursday) champion.

For the girls, Battle Mountain’s Eden DeMino won the slalom on Thursday and Malie Dieterich led Summit to a sweep of the top four spots in Wednesday’s giant slalom. A strong run yesterday from Battle Mountain Freshman Mia Eaton who finished in the Top 5 in slalom.

For the Girls, it was Summit #1 with Battle Mt 2nd and Eagle Valley 10th.

For the boys, Summit took the overall with Battle Mountain in 6th and Eagle Valley 9th.

States in Wrestling: Eagle Valley’s Cooper Hern has been a pin machine. He advanced to Friday’s semi finals with another pin on Thursday. He hasn’t been on the mat for more than a minute thus far at States….winning in a pin in seconds.

Basketball, the cross-county rivalry Game 2, Eagle Valley’s boys and girls both won over Battle Mountain Thursday night. 67-55 and 31-10 respectively.

Vail Christian’s boys rolled DeBeque 60-26 boys

Nordic States are Friday and Saturday at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby.
