The Dry Creek Fire south of Rifle is pretty much under control. Last night, Zach Pigati the Operations Section Chief for the wildfire said it was 90% contained.  In total, the fire did destroy one home south of Rifle and an out building.

A Red Flag Fire Warning is in effect for tomorrow from 10a-10p.  Expecting some strong gusty winds this weekend with low humidity.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has implemented a full-day voluntary fishing closure for the Yampa River near Steamboat due to extremely low water flow and high water temperatures.  The closure is downstream of Stagecoach and is meant to help the native mountain whitefish.  Fisherman state-wide should be aware of rising water temperatures and stop fishing if the river temps go above 68 degrees.

Cottonwood Pass will be closed this morning until 11:30.  There is a cattle drive underway.

If the stock market is any indicator, something may be up with Vail Resorts.  The stock has bounced around more than 10% in the last week.  Millions of shares have been traded over the last week.  There is some reporting from financial journalists that Vail Resorts is getting ready for a potential hostile take-over.  

The Avs sent Valeri Nichushkin to the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday. In return, Colorado will receive three draft picks — a second-round selection in 2026, a third-round choice in 2027 and a fifth-rounder in 2028.
