A new wildfire has erupted on the Eagle and Grand County lines near the Trough Road along the Colorado River. The Sheephorn Creek and Cottonwood Creek Road area below Pumphouse and up from Rancho.
The Hartman Hill Fire forced evacuations in Grand County Sunday night. Some of those evacuation orders have now been reduced to pre-evacuation status. There are Pre-Evacuation Warnings in Eagle County. Updated mapping shows the fire to be about 26 acres in size. One Air Attack and a Large Air Tanker made one large drop on the fire during the evening last night.
Meanwhile, the Willow Fire still burns near the Leadville Fish Hatchery.
Katrina with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. There are reports today that at least 12 people have been injured by the Willow fire but who those injured may be has not been specified. More than 1,100 structures are threatened by the fire but so far, none have been lost.
Firefighters on Saturday reached 100% containment on the Green Ridge Fire near Stagecoach.

Today, a procession will honor the firefighting pilot who died in Colorado while helping with containment efforts on the Gold Mountain Fire. 56-year-old Nicholas Dale of British Columbia, died last week when his K-MAX helicopter crashed into Silver Jack Reservoir in western Colorado. The convoy this morning will leave Montrose and travel eastbound on I-70, arriving at the airport around noon. They should be passing through Eagle County between 9:30 and 10:15.
