A HIGH WIND WARNING remains in effect until noon today for Summit County and the Mosquito Range.

West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 80 mph.

It was windy yesterday in Colorado.  The highest wind speed was determined to be 97 mph at Carter Lake in Larimer County.  The wind gusted to well over 90 in a number of areas.  That’s the same as a Cat 2 hurricane.

The Avalanche danger remains elevated across parts of Colorado’s northern mountains.  Considerable danger again today for our area including around Vail Pass.

A 55-year-old skier died following a crash at Breckenridge Ski Area on Wednesday.  The man had been skiing on Peak 8 on a Double Black Diamond Run.  The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

A report of gunfire last weekend and subsequent investigation near Dillon has revealed a bullet and some empty shell casings.  No one was injured.  A house in the area was hit by some random bullets.  What was going on hasn’t been determined.

The wind forced the Vail Christian basketball game last night to be moved to Longmont High School. The Saint’s had a fantastic season.  Lost to the #2 seed in 2A, Simla last night, 68-42.

High School soccer, Battle Mountain shut-out VMS 5-nil yesterday.

Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon has had his game misconduct reversed by the NHL. Because of the reversal, MacKinnon would no longer receive an automatic one-game suspension if he were to receive another game misconduct this season.
