Even with the rains this weekend, we do have some wildfires burning in Colorado. Evacuation orders were lifted for the Town of Campo last night. The Sharpe fire has burned more than 28-thousand acres in southeastern Colorado.
A man in northwest Colorado is facing animal cruelty charges after dozens of bison were seized from his ranch over the weekend. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office said they seized about 90 head from the Lay Valley Bison Ranch. They also took a mule in for proper care. Rancher Daniel Martin is facing multiple misdemeanor charges.
The Nottingham East Park Improvements construction project will resume today. The project will develop a new restroom facility, plaza, rain shelter, and seating wall at the Old Town Hall site. They hope to have it done by October.
After multiple extensions and a few late season snowstorms, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has finally closed for the season with no plans to reopen. A Basin had snow for closing day yesterday. They’re expecting more snow this week but it’s not enough to keep things running.
The NBA MVP voting is in. Once again, Nicola Jokic of the Nuggets was robbed. The Joker finished 2nd to SGA of Oklahoma. Nicola has tied a record. He’s been in the Top 2 in voting for 6 consecutive years. Only Bill Russell and Larry Bird have had that distinction.
Rockies lost again yesterday, 8-6 the final. After an encouraging 14-18 start, Colorado is 4-11 in MayRockies LHP Jose Quintana will start tonight.
