Battle Mountain hockey ends their season with a 17-2-1 record and a loss in the quarterfinals of the State Playoffs. The Huskies fell Tuesday night to Colorado Springs District 11 by a score of 3-1 in a primarily defensive battle.
District 11’s goalie Boston Leaver denied Battle Mountain’s shot after shot after shot. District 11 got their first two goals in the first frame from Crew Miller and Josh Geronazzo. In the second period, Battle Mountain’s Reid Garrison scored a goal with about 7 minutes left.
The score remained 1-2 in favor of Dist. 11 until an open net goal by Easton Stichka made the score 3-1 after the final buzzer.
Dist. 11 goes on to the semifinals and the Huskies will lick their wounds and come back better than ever next year.
