The beloved Salute to the USA returns to Harry A. Nottingham Park on Friday, July 3, marking a major milestone for Avon’s signature Independence Day tradition along with Colorado’s 150th and our nation’s 250th anniversaries. This landmark 40th annual Salute to the USA kicks off an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, featuring Grammy® Award-nominated powerhouse performer Grace Potter as headliner and a night filled with live music, and community celebration.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. for this free Independence Day event, with live music beginning at 6:00 p.m. The evening kicks off with rising country-pop artist Sophia Scott, whose bold, high-energy sound sets the tone for the night, before building to a powerhouse headlining performance by Grace Potter, known for her electrifying blend of rock, soul, blues, and Americana. The evening builds to an epic fireworks finale at 9:45 p.m., lighting up the night sky over Nottingham Lake.

“Salute to the USA is the community’s most cherished tradition, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone 40th anniversary with an incredible lineup in the beautiful Harry A. Nottingham Park,” said Avon Chief Cultural Officer Danita Dempsey. “Currently we are planning to move forward with launching fireworks with multiple safety protocols in place. Community safety is paramount, and we will continue coordinating with our fireworks vendor and fire district partners. We invite visitors and locals alike to experience all that Avon has to offer throughout the entire July 4th weekend.”

This year’s event continues to elevate the guest experience with expanded gathering and picnic areas, a vibrant Family Zone, food court, live painting experience and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the festivities. Guests are encouraged to review the event’s prohibited items list in advance for a smooth arrival. A mobile-friendly Salute to the USA Event Guide is available online to help guests plan their evening.

To make getting around easy, attendees are encouraged to use public transit to and from the event or take one of our multiple free event shuttle options starting at 4:00 p.m. on July 3. For those who prefer cycling, there is limited bicycle-specific parking available, which is provided at the owner’s risk.

Avon invites guests to turn their visit into a Fourth of July weekend getaway. Explore scenic hiking and biking trails, paddle along Nottingham Lake, enjoy live music, discover local shops and restaurants, and take in the vibrant mountain-town energy that makes Avon a must-visit summer destination.
